No single high school serves all of Cinco Ranch, and the fastest way to mislead yourself is to assume one does. Homes in the community zone into three Katy ISD high schools depending on the exact address: Cinco Ranch High School, Seven Lakes High School, and Tompkins High School. This post profiles each campus, flags what is new for the 2026-27 school year, and then shows you the one-minute check that settles your specific address.

Cinco Ranch High School: the core campus

Cinco Ranch High School opened in 1999 and sits right on Cinco Ranch Boulevard inside the community. It is one of the district's largest campuses, with an enrollment that has hovered around 3,400 to 3,800 students in recent years, and its attendance zone covers much of the core and northern parts of the master plan.

Seven Lakes High School: the southwest zone

Seven Lakes High School opened in 2005, built in part to relieve crowding at Cinco Ranch and Katy high schools, and it sits on Fry Road south of the community. Its zone takes in the southwest sections of the Cinco Ranch area along Katy-Gaston Road, plus nearby communities such as Seven Meadows and Grand Lakes, with enrollment running in a similar 3,400 to 3,800 range.

Tompkins High School: the southern sections

Tompkins High School is the newest of the three, opening in fall 2013 as Katy ISD's seventh comprehensive high school, on Falcon Landing Boulevard. Its zone covers the newer southern parts of the Cinco Ranch area, including the Falcon Landing and Silver Ranch communities, with enrollment that has run roughly 3,100 to 3,500.

None of these zones is a permanent fact. In June 2026 the district reviewed a proposed boundary modification to balance enrollment between Cinco Ranch High School and Tompkins High School for the 2027-28 year, tied to a new elementary school opening in August 2027. Today's zone is not necessarily the zone your child walks into in three years, which is why buyers should ask about boundary plans along with the current assignment.

What is new for the 2026-27 year

Katy ISD opened no new schools for 2026-27 and made no attendance boundary changes for it. The year started August 12, 2026 with about 90,000 students, and two things are genuinely new for parents: the calendar now includes a fall break from October 9 through 13, 2026, and the district launched its High School Limited Open Enrollment program, an official path to request a campus other than your zoned one for the school year. Both are district decisions, so confirm the details on Katy ISD's site rather than trusting secondhand summaries.
