Which school your Cinco Ranch home feeds depends on your exact street address, not on the neighborhood name. Katy ISD assigns every home to an elementary, junior high, and high school based on its land use zone, and the district publishes official tools that let you check any address in about a minute. This post walks through the process so you can verify zoning for yourself before you fall in love with a listing.
Why you cannot just say âCinco Ranchâ
Cinco Ranch spans several Katy ISD attendance zones. Much of the community zones to Cinco Ranch High School, but south and west sections can feed Seven Lakes High School, and parts of the west side fall in the Tompkins High School zone. The junior high and elementary can differ block to block too, so two houses a couple of streets apart can land in different feeders entirely.
Realtors and listing sites often label everything âCinco Ranch,â which hides that difference. The district assignment is the only number that matters for school planning, and it belongs to the address, not the marketing name.
How to look up the zone for a specific address
- Open Katy ISDâs Find My School address lookup on katyisd.org. It is the districtâs own tool, so what it returns is the official assignment.
- Enter the full street address, including the correct suffix, and submit. The tool returns the assigned elementary, junior high, and high school.
- Cross-check with the districtâs attendance-zone map or SARA, the School Assignment by Residential Address application, which runs in a plain web browser on desktop or phone.
- Note the result for the exact house you are considering, then repeat the check before you make an offer.
Boundary changes, and your timeline
Katy ISD reviews attendance boundaries every year and publishes proposed changes before they take effect. A zone that is accurate today can shift when a new campus opens or a line is rebalanced, and the district announces those plans well in advance. If your move is months away, check again after boundary-change season and confirm once more at closing.
Our schools guide lists the campuses that commonly serve Cinco Ranch by neighborhood and explains how the feeder patterns work. And if you want it done for you: Carol Jukes, Broker/Owner of Realty Pros of Texas and a Katy veteran, pulls the current district assignment for any address before a showing, and flags proposed boundary changes that could matter for your timeline.
