Mexican food near Cinco Ranch: tacos and tex-mex close to home

2026-09-28 5 min read By Carol Jukes, Broker/Owner

Katy's Mexican food scene is deep, and several of the most reliable spots sit within a few minutes of Cinco Ranch: Gringo's on the Grand Parkway, Ray's on Mason Road, Alicia's on the Katy Freeway frontage, and Torchy's and Ambriza right at LaCenterra. All were verified as operating in September 2026.

Cinco Ranch is not short on Mexican food, and the good news is that you do not have to leave the area for the good stuff. The five spots below were each verified as operating in September 2026 and sit within a few minutes of the community, spread across the Grand Parkway, Mason Road, and the Katy Freeway frontage, plus two right at LaCenterra. Hours, menus, and patio weather change, so it is always worth a quick check before you go.

Sit-down tex-mex, close to home

Gringo's Mexican Kitchen at 230 West Grand Parkway South is the easiest sit-down option from Cinco Ranch, with tex-mex classics and a dining room that suits families and groups. It sits right on the Parkway frontage, the natural pick when nobody wants to drive far.

Ray's Mexican Restaurant at 870 South Mason Road has been a Mason Road corridor fixture for years, the steady, comfortable pick for tex-mex classics. On the east side of the community, Mason Road is a straight shot.

Alicia's Mexican Grille at 25725 Katy Freeway sits on the I-10 frontage in the Cinco Ranch area, the reliable choice when you are already on the highway side of the community, and it is a regular stop for many locals.

Counter-service tacos at the square

At LaCenterra, Torchy's Tacos at 23501 Cinco Ranch Boulevard serves counter-service tacos with a line out the door at peak times, the most casual stop on this list and a dependable one with kids. Ambriza, also at the square, is a modern Mexican kitchen with a patio, a slightly calmer sit-down option between shopping and dinner.

A practical tip for the whole group: weekday lunch is the easiest table at most of these spots, and the weekends fill up, so call ahead or check online ordering when a specific night matters. The Katy dining scene shifts quickly, so the dining guide keeps the running list of what is still open before you drive.
